Historically, Elvis was known to enjoy peanut butter and banana sandwiches. It is said he sometimes even requested to add bacon, which all sounds pretty amazing, so let’s use his creative tastebuds as inspiration to make something that is delicious and healthy! Get ready for a smoothie that is packed full of healthy fats to help you burn fat, and will make Elvis proud! – Eat it for breakfast, pre-workout, post-workout, snack… whenever!

Breakdown of Healthy Fats
-Chia Seeds are not only a great source of protein and fiber, they are also high in Omega-3s.
-Sunflower Seeds are a good source of protein and have lots of vitamins and minerals like vitamins B, E, selenium, magnesium, folate, and more.
-Almonds are full of vitamins and antioxidants as well!

RECIPE
1 frozen banana
2 Tablespoons peanut butter or almond butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon of sunflower seeds
dash of salt
1/2 cup coconut milk or almond milk
1.5 Tablespoons chia seeds
1 slice of bacon* (optional topping)
Carmelized honey drizzle: 1 Tablespoon of honey and 1/2 Tablespoon of butter (optional topping, or mix in)

*If you don’t eat meat, you can use fake bacon or remove completely.

Fry the bacon slice in a pan. Once cooked, move to a plate covered in paper towel to cool. Set aside.

If you have time to make homemade chia pudding, put coconut milk or almond milk in a bowl with the chia seeds. Stir and let sit in the refrigerate overnight, or at least a few hours. No time? Just add the two ingredients into a blender with the rest of the smoothie ingredients: banana, almond butter, cinnamon, salt, sunflower seeds. Blend it all until smooth.

Pour your smoothie into a cup or glass or… smoothie bowl! Chop up the bacon into little pieces and top your smoothie.

To caramelize your honey: Heat a small pan on medium heat and add butter until melted. Add in honey, keep stirring while the honey bubbles. Only cook until honey darkens to a brown, caramel color. It should take only about a minute. Be careful not to cook to long, it may burn. Before it cools, drizzle over your smoothie. Enjoy!

This smoothie’s got me singing… “A hunk, a hunk of burning love!” YUUUUMM!!
